We had to pick up some friends from the Amtrak Surfliner today

They decided to go from San Diego to Santa Barbara on the train to avoid all the traffic but this takes some time as well. I think they got on the train some time this morning between San Diego and Oceanside (not sure where) and rode all the way to Santa Barbara on the train.

In 2010 I believe, my son was studying for a test in Fort Collins, Colorado and My wife and I rented the largest compartments with a shower and beds and I think food service too and sinks and electricity and all that from about Where Berkeley is in California on the Zephyr Train from  there to Denver, Colorado. Then we took a taxi from there to the Brown Derby Hotel which is a historic old hotel there from the Titanic Days when the "Unsinkable Molly Brown" from the Titanic owned it then.

After he took his test he and I drove back to California in his car through the Grand Canyon and Pueblo, Colorado and Santa Fe, New Mexico through Taos, New Mexico which is about 9000 feet in elevation and Santa Fe is about 7000 feet elevation and Flagstaff is about 7000 feet too. So, if you aren't used to higher elevations be careful above about 5000 feet. And if you are flying into Denver in a private plane at 5000 feet be sure you know what you are doing because landing at 5000 feet elevation is not at all like landing at sea level. The Zephyr Train goes from Emeryville, California all the way to Chicago, Illinois.

The Zephyr Train from Emeryville near Berkeley's address is:
