Even Senator Lindsey Graham once said this could or would happen. It looks like this is all but inevitable now. If you notice that Clinton got impeached by the House for lying to Congress about Monica Lewinsky but then got re-elected because he wasn't Impeached by both houses. This is very likely to happen again under present conditions (the house impeaching Trump and the Senate Not).
Whether Trump is re-elected or not (just like Clinton was) is anyone's guess right now. I think if the candidate is Biden, Trump likely will lose but likely any other candidate will be beaten by Trump. (at least at this point).
