One of the biggest mistakes China ever made was the Tiananmen massacre of unarmed Chinese Democracy activists with guns and tanks in 1989 there. The way the Hong Kong demonstrations are going this could be a repeat of the same kind of massacre by the Chinese against their own people like before. However, it could also be worse this time because I think protestors if they don't get their way to totally burn down Hong Kong rather than give up even if they all die in the process at this point, partly because everyone in Hong Kong knows about Tiananmen but people in mainland China can be killed on sight by the government if they are even found talking about it amongst themselves.
So, we are witnessing the scariest time for China and Hong Kong in over 100 years right now because of this. Whatever China does to Hong Kong the WHOLE WORLD IS NOW WATCHING because whatever happens cannot be hidden from the whole world at this point.
