If you are not selfish enough to do what it takes to survive then you can not only not help yourself survive, you certainly can't help anyone else survive either now or in the future.
Often people want everyone to be unselfish but in the end often that just means that they want all your money and time.
But, if you are selfish enough to survive yourself, then if you succeed you can help anyone you want to to survive and prosper too. So, if you are intelligent and have the opportunity, it is possible that you will not only save yourself but many many others as well. Something to think about long term.
