Sunspots

I have always found sunspots interesting because they tend to be the cause of Aurora Borealis and Aurora Australis effects here on earth. Some of these plasma streams cause our magnetosphere to blow out powerplants off line like the 1989 one did in Canada. It is expected and many satellites especially GPS and weather satellites could be affected in various ways because of this higher than normal cycle of sunspots happening now and into the near future. My concern personally is that these higher than normal plasma jets from sunspots could cause problems to the navigation of jets and planes and cause crashes, especially in planes flown by artificial intelligence while on autopilot which utilizes the GPS satellites that could be most affected by these plasma streams from the sun at this time. I don't think there has been enough investigation of the affects of sunspots and plasma streams on the magnetosphere as well as on GPS satellites to completely rule out GPS and autopilot failures in various crashes caused either directly or indirectly by sunspots and solar plasma streams affecting the satellites and the magnetosphere of earth, especially the one that crashed into the Atlantic between Brazil and Paris a few years ago. So, it could be said that if a plane goes on autopilot, or even if it doesn't and the pilots are relying on the information from GPS satellites during these times, it is possible that they may not always be as accurate as planes need not only to stay in the sky but to not run into each other or the ground or ocean.

Even without sunspots and plasma streams no technology is 100% accurate all the time. So, the more we have human supervision and people actually looking out the front window of the plane when it is not occluded by white outs, rain or snow or the blackness of night or a combination of all might be helpful in keeping more people alive when technology unexpectedly fully or even partly fails.
