My son (37) was telling me about an article he just read. The question was asked, "What would happen to the universe if Gravity didn't exist? The answer was that the universe would revert to a 2 dimensional state and everything would turn into light.
There is the statement one often hears, "God is Light" and when you go out in the sun in the morning often one might feel this way. What is also interesting is that many physicists believe that the "natural state" is actually 2 dimensional and that the physical universe is a 3 dimensional presentation of a 2 dimensional universe much like your flat screen TV might be perceived as a 2 dimensional array with 3 dimensional properties. However, at some point one's mind begins to melt because we all tend to think holographically in three dimensions at the very least. So, trying to think about the universe in 2 dimensions one would have to convert physical reality into the realm of a piece of paper one is writing on.
I find it interesting to think that Stars, planets, Galaxies and everything we know in the physical universe could not exist as we know it to be without gravity.
