65% of lower 48 U.S. states now covered by snow

Even though this is true the droughts affecting the Central parts of the U.S. are serious enough to potentially shut down the upper Mississippi River to Barge traffic. But still, the east and west coasts of the U.S. are seeing an incredible amount of snow because the Central parts of the U.S. are in very serious long term Drought. And much more snow is expected in the Northeast this weekend.

By the way, last year the most snow covering the U.S. was 45% to tell you just how different this year is from last one.
