Health and Healing

Most people tend to think about healing as just going to a doctor and health as just eating whatever they want to eat. And for some, they can go throughout their lives this even even though often living this way might shorten their lives.

Somewhere around one's 30s or after if they survive their 20s and everything that happens then people often (because they have children and want them to live and have good lives) start studying what makes people healthy so they can keep their kids alive and help them survive into adulthood.

So, my Dad studied about health starting when he was in his teens. By the time I came along in 1948
he had the whole organic food, vegetarianism thing down and then tried to indoctrinate me into all this with mixed results as I grew up mostly in southern California where there actually were places like "Foods For Life" in Glendale which was a health food and organic food supermarket. So, we were always buying organic food even from 1956 on because we could.

This likely increased my longevity and health by this proactive response by my father and mother.

Now, as an adult I see things not only in a preventative medicine way I also see health as being about diet, consciousness, where you live, the people you live around and various other societal and cultural factors worldwide. So, when you look at mortality rates worldwide, basically you can know (to some degree) how long you will live in any culture worldwide on average.

But diet isn't the whole thing, exercise plays a part too. I have found that finding exercise that is fun for you is always the best for a variety of reasons. For example, if there is a sport you like then do that. If you like riding a bicycle then do that. If you like hiking beautiful places then do that. (That's one of my favorites now that I'm 64). I like to walk on the beach with my dogs or in the nearby forests. But, what I've also found is that if I'm traveling often I don't exercise enough because I'm in unfamiliar territory without my dogs to walk with. The exception to this is anywhere there is snow and skiing. Then I'm always exhausted and happy from skiing in the snow with family and friends.

So, diet and exercise makes you feel happy and alive and wanting to go on living. And improper diet and improper exercise might make you want to take your own life. So, finding some kind of exercise that makes you happy and a diet you love that works for you might be two of the most important keys to life ongoing.

Next, many people think that getting medicines from doctors is how you stay healthy. I don't think this is true at all because in general the medicines doctors give you have to be viewed as poisons. My son who is trained as a nurse said it this way, "Prescription medicines tend to be poisons that people tend to take later in life to keep them alive longer. But if you can don't take them for a long as you can because that will tend to make you live longer."

So, longevity actually is about "How long can I avoid medicines that act like poisons in my body?"
I have always lived this way in not taking pain killers or any other medicine if I could avoid them. In this way it keeps me more mentally and emotionally fit so I can then make better decisions in my life which also allows me to live longer by making better decisions regarding all things in my life.

So, the best way to stay healthy is to get a good diet and exercise regime going that you are happy with and then live in a place where you are happy around the people and location you are in. But, if that isn't possible make the best of whatever situation you are in.

Healing actually has more to do with your choosing a healthy lifestyle mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually than any other single factor. Having done that you will be better able then to choose healers to help you throughout your life. (Healers meaning both licensed and unlicensed care providers) to help you.
