Medications often involved in Shootings

The most common medications involved in shootings are antidepressants. Especially, when people are going onto these medications or going off of them they often become delusional and sometimes suicidal and once in a while the flipside of suicidal which is homicidal. Over a 7 year period there were 11,000 episodes of violence related to Anti-depressants. Most of these were suicides but some of them were homicides as well. This is because the human mind when it becomes suicidal is also not far away from homicide as well. So, even though the homicides are a much smaller number, these incidents almost always combine homicide(s) and a suicide in the same situation.

The 11,000 factoid came from Sangay Gupta on CNN TV on Saturday December 22nd 2012

Also, Sangay Gupta researched the oldest mass killing of students in the U.S. which took place in Bath, Michigan 80 years ago. A farmer got upset at the high taxes gathered to pay for the great new school and put dynamite under the school and set it off while children were there.  38 children died in this dynamite blast. The farmer later blew himself up with dynamite likely in his car or vehicle. This information is also from the same CNN broadcast above.

Also, problems can occur with many different prescriptions as well as illegal substances. One of the most horrific times of my life was having to take away my father's guns because he was shooting holes in the walls. He was taking a codeine medication for the pain of bone cancer near his passing on within 6 months. He had already shot holes in his bedroom wall with one of the family guns (luckily a low caliber gun) so I could patch the plastered wall with Spackle. But, my mother being old school and born in 1919 could not take away his guns from him in her traditional way of thinking (this was 1985 and I was 37). So, when I heard about this I told my wife and kids I had to go and I quickly got into my car and drove south to the desert near Yucca Valley from the San Francisco Bay area and talked to my father. He said, "You see those bad men there? I shot one of them but he still came back." I looked at my father who had always been my Rock and I felt withered inside. But still I took away his weapons without asking him, to protect not only him but my mother, their dog and anyone who might visit. Though I can laugh about it now(you have to either laugh or cry or both), then it was one of the most horrific experiences of my life to see my father so out of touch with reality and hallucinating  and shooting his gun into his wall from a Codeine pain killer during the last months of his life.
