I actually enjoyed it because I missed the old "Lord of the Rings" which came out between 2001 and 2003 about one movie a year during that time.
The Hobbit was the first J.R.R. Tokien book I read while I was in I believe Glendale College back in 1966 or 1967 when I thought more about it. I read the Sylmarian I think it was called one summer in Mt. Shasta around 1969 or 1970 when I went camping up there with a friend. I remember running through the wilds and thinking about Tom Bombadil and Goldberry back then and eating thimbleberries in the magical woods and streams around Mt. Shasta at that time.
However, I greatly enjoyed "The Hobbit" as everything else made about the Hobbit was in some sort of Cartoon form so this is the first real movie that wasn't sort of cartoon like that I can remember. My son is sort of upset that they are making it in 3 movies but I'm just glad (since I first read the book around 1966 or 1967 or so) that they are using real people as actors. I was happy to see it acted out with great graphics after they leave Bilbo Baggins' home in the Shire. Though I too wonder about putting the one book of "The Hobbit" into 3 movies as well, in the end it is a very detailed and long book if you have ever read it. And if you really want all the major details in it maybe 3 movies is what it would actually take. Otherwise it might seem sort of "chopped up" for readers and fans of the whole book and whole series of books by J.R.R. Tolkien.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
