First of all you don't want to be riding in the dirt if you can help it with anything but something with knobby tires that is made for it like a dualsport or something like that. 2nd never use your front brake
while moving in the dirt. If you put your front brake on for more than about 1/2 second the bike is going to lay down right there (wherever you are). And if it is bad you might be dead.
So, only use your front brake in the dirt when you are stationary or not wanting to slide back when stopped on a hill. Those two times are the only times you likely will use your front brake and be happy about it. Also, if you have ABS braking which ties your front and back brakes together for braking, not turning this feature off in the dirt might cost you your life. On some bikes you have to remove the fuse for the ABS feature to turn off and be safe in the dirt.
