Gathering data is at the heart of whether e-commerce and media companies can make money online. Some amount of information gathering is necessary to target products and marketing messages to consumers. The period when that can be done readily may be over. The anxiety about access to person data has a stronger and stronger foundation because of how badly online security has eroded.

I have said this online for sometime now. Eventually, this will get so bad that most people will stop using the Internet using their own identities. In the meantime what people are doing who are informed enough is to go with a VPN worldwide.
VPN stands for "Virtual Private Network". I would try to explain it but I don't completely understand it myself, so maybe you should read some of the following articles as you find them useful.

is the source of the percentages. I added the numbers based upon percentages of the 2 billion people worldwide that use the Internet. However, it is likely that these figures (percentages) are just for the U.S. It would be assumed that these figures would be much much worse than these if applied to the whole world. So, what I put would be a bare minimum and likely much more than these numbers all over the world.
Sorry I only put the percentages. I applied the numbers to a different article. But, if you use 2 billion internet users and then multiple by for example, .21 you will get what 21percent of 2 billion people actually is.
