Maitreya

I can remember in 1977 when I went to Summit University in Archangel Gabriel's quarter in 1977. I think it was a Museum in Los Angeles we went to where they had a statue of Maitreya that was incredibly beautiful. It was done I believe in the 9th? Century and what I found unusual was that this statue looked like me at the time a lot. This always seemed very unusual to me that something made that long ago reminded me of myself.

When I went to see Ling Rinpoche when my family and I were led there on foot in the mid 1980s into a stone hut with a slate roof a few miles by foot above the last parts of Dharamshala, India in the Himalayas he also was in the Maitreya teaching mudra with his right hand raised in spiritual blessing and his left hand in his lap which is the Mudra or (hands position) of Buddha Maitreya (The Teaching Buddha).

My father had just died 6 months or so before so when I saw Ling Rinpoche who had run Tibet for the Dalai Lama until he became 18 blessing all mankind from a heaven realm and who had been sitting unmoving for 2 years already in this position while radiating the heaven realms back through his body I had to at some point go outside and cry because of the extremely powerful Zen of this moment.

As humans we are born, we live and we die. My father had done that. But here was something completely different. Ling rinpoche was born, he lived and now he was radiating heaven back through his body which reminded me a little of Jesus resurrecting from the tomb and radiating heaven back through his body at that point.

Something snapped and permanently changed inside of me at this moment where I realized, "We are born, we live, and we die" wasn't completely true as a universal paradigm for mankind. I realized there is more to what a human is capable of than that.

And the consciousness of Maitreya and Jesus brought me to this understanding and realization.
