Obeying Technology?

Obeying Technology?

I think one of the bad signs for the future in regard to technology is humans having to Obey Technology. Though in the short run it might be good like when we stop at stop lights that are computer controlled on timers, when we move onto seatbelts where people can be trapped in their cars or vehicles this might not turn out to be a good thing in the long run. Then as cars start to drive us places without a human driver available, more might be asked of us as humans than we should actually give. Even though if people are drunk or on legal or illegal drugs that might prevent them from driving safely, these cars and other vehicles might save their lives(because they don’t have to drive (control) the vehicles while they are altered, this likely will not be good in other ways psychologically for humans in the long run.

So, learning how to have technology be our friends and helpmates while not having to be obedient to technology will be the real trick especially now as we are entering the Technological Singularity for real. If you try and tell me that we aren’t entering the technological Singularity when Artificial Intelligence can fly planes and drive cars for us, I might think you aren’t very intelligent or at least haven’t studied philosophy, psychology, religion, humanism, sociology, Anthropology or haven't been a human being for very long yet.

Not Understanding that technology is either a friend or an enemy and sometimes both like small or large wild animals or like even human viruses might be very naive and even fatal indeed in the near and far future. So getting prepared for your smartphone or toaster or whatever  being more intelligent than you are might be important before the 2020s roll around.

Because within 50 years a smartphone (or a similar functioning device) could be as smart as the whole human race combined (intellectually speaking). And at that point we will be still living hopefully and have entered the fully changed world of the Technological Singularity that will result because of this.
