34 degrees Fahrenheit at 9 AM

I live on the ocean in northern California. The Pacific Ocean usually keeps our weather from ever going below freezing except maybe a couple of times every year. However, I woke up this morning at 9 am and my wife informed me that the bird bath outside in our back yard was frozen solid which was amazing! Then I looked at the temperature and it was 34 degrees still. So, in order for the bird bath to freeze solid like that likely it had to go down to around 25 to 28 degrees last night at some point. Amazing! I might expect something like this to happen in January or February but this is very unusual for Early December! It likely was much colder inland last night as well.

The three photos are 1. my father in laws old but well built bird bath that we moved up from Santa Barbara, 2. my daughter's 16 foot trampoline covered with ice and my hot tub cover covered with ice. In order for the bird bath to freeze solid like this I expect it was 25 to 28 degrees so likely since we expect more weather like this I might want to wrap any exposed spigots and piping outside through these incredibly cold times for here. I looked at the temperature for Mt. Shasta and it was 18 degrees Fahrenheit at 9 am as well. Also, luckily my hot tub was on and set to 98 degrees (body temperature) so it's pipes didn't freeze either. It's much cheaper to leave it at that temperature and then sometimes my daughter wants it 102 or 103 degrees Fahrenheit and it can get there in 5 or 10 minutes.

Also, it is 15 degrees Fahrenheit right now in South Lake Tahoe.
