When I watched Oblivion: the movie at the theaters when it came out I thought to myself that the way they depict the flying drones was very important to our future. It was obvious to me that this was one potential future for the human race where Drones are given too much power over average people and they start thinning out or extincting people.
This is an important thing to be aware of as humans because if enough human control isn't exerted over drones as they evolve and become each more intelligent than any individual human as AI and as self aware technology some or all humans will soon be gone. So, staying aware of this might be important especially in countries with bad human rights records as they come into the possession of lethal drones during the next 100 years.
