$4.49 for a gallon of Regular Gas?

Almost a week ago now I drove north to Mt. Shasta. Yesterday I returned to the California coast. However, as I stopped for gas once yesterday I was surprised to see "$4.49" for regular gas since the most I had paid heading north was about $4.29 so this was 20cents more per gallon only about 4 or 5 days later. As I look at Gasbuddy.com

GasBuddy.com

I noticed that the cheapest prices right now within about 10 to 20 miles from where I live is about $3.89 but then the range for regular goes up to about $4.70 a gallon also for regular in this area. A lot of this pricing depends upon when stations buy their gas. They can't usually sell it for less than they have to pay to get it. This is why often stations that bought their gas at a bad time don't have customers when gas prices drop suddenly and can't get their money back. It's all about timing in any business in regard to when you buy or sell anything and how much you have to pay for it before you sell it. IF you sell at too much of a loss you might even put yourself out of business if you don't have enough money in the bank to begin with.
