Most of my life until very recently I have ridden coach. I found from about age 40 to 45 on it wasn't comfortable enough for me and that if someone put their seat back (I'm 6 foot 5 inches tall) they would likely break both my knees and I would be crippled and have to sue either the person or the airlines. However, that always seemed kind of stupid to me because what good would that do for me or the airline or the person who moved their seat back and broke both my knees so I couldn't walk anymore.
So, when I went up to Seattle with one of my daughters this summer my wife realized it wasn't much more expensive to fly 1st class because of the lateness of the time we were buying the tickets. This was such a better experience (plus I could actually sit by a window) which makes a whole lot more sense to me that being in an aisle seat in coach and it is sort of like flying to Chicago in an enclosed elevator or something (very claustrophobic and you can't see anything). And then if you are not only 6 foot 5 inches but also broad shouldered like me you are going to get hit by the food trays as the stewardesses come by from the back when you can't see them or you are going to be grazing the rear end of a stewardess because you can't see her coming ahead of the food tray. So, either you are injured slightly or slightly embarrassed (take your pick).
So, I find traveling in business class or 1st class works a lot better for me ever since now you can no longer fly with a bulkhead seat in a reservation on any airline. You might be given one at the airport but they no longer give you a reservation ahead of time. So, if you want to be sure you aren't going to be injured try (if you can afford it) flying business class or 1st class depending upon what's available. Especially if you are tall and want to look out the window because you are a pilot like me and used to looking out like a driver or a pilot all your life at all the beautiful clouds, scenery and oceans and mountains and stuff. Most of our country and the world is very beautiful (from sea to shining sea)!
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
