Universal Awareness

I saw this course name on a flyer to be held at the Aztec Center at San Diego State University. This likely was between 1970 and 1972. I lived then with my parents as they had moved in 1969 down from Glendale because my father could make several times as much money working through his Union the San Diego Branch of the IBEW than he could working non-union in the Los Angeles County area. He retired I think in 1980 making about 30 dollars an hour plus benefits.

So, after I left my job and apartment in Venice because it was just too nuts for me there at age 21 (too much like Haight Ashbury then in San Francisco) I moved back in with my parents and returned to college at Palomar College where between 1971 and 1973 I received at least 45 to 60 units towards a Bachelor's degree if and when I transferred to a State university or a UC. (I eventually went to UCSC in Santa Cruz)

I loved Palomar College because it opened me up to understanding myself and the world better through courses like: Cultural Anthropology (where I discovered I was a natural Shaman)
through Psychology(where I discovered I wasn't the problem, most of my problems were historical and passed down through problems of relatives for centuries)
And
Philosophy(where I always got an A because of the suffering I had already been through by age 21 to 23 when I took philosophy.

So, while I was living with my parents and studying constantly I learned about the Experimental College begin conducted through the Aztec Center at San Diego State.

So, this happened to be within a month or two of when I had had my "Burning Bush" experience on Mt. Shasta in August 1970 when I climbed the mountain to the top with 2 friends who made it and one that didn't make it to the top.

So, I was still trying to not "Catch on fire" from the pain in my arms from the "Holy Spirit" from the Burning Bush experience. Though I was scared of the burning painful sensations in my arms that felt like I was going to catch on fire it wasn't to the point where I was terrified of this yet. This came later.

So, in the midst of this "Holy Spirit overwhelming experience" I joined the Class which was about 500 people in this class called "Universal Awareness"

The teacher of this class was a minister who had been trained by the "Teachings of the Inner Christ" then in San Diego. This was a very mystical Christian Church and very new age in it's thinking.

So, this teacher began to teach about developing our natural intuitive abilities like seeing auras, reading minds, soul travel etc.

People were ready for something like this and the 100 to 500 people taking this class were very enthusiastic at the time because most were either full time or part time students at San Diego State University when then I think had about 25,000 to 30,000 students. (many people especially boys then went to college for the student deferments so they wouldn't die or be maimed for life in Viet Nam. And the girls followed them at first to live with them or marry them on universities across the nation.

When the class ended there was a group of about 20 to 30 of us that didn't want to go our separate ways and decided to meet every Friday night at one of the students houses near campus. This became a very amazing experience for me because I couldn't believe I had found so many people trying to do what I had been trying to do since I was born.

And during these meetings for the next few months all my senses grew exponentially, and I exploded out into soul traveling while listening to the Moody Blues on the Stereo there of "In search of the Lost chord". However, if you want to experience this you are going to need a record player because a digital recording isn't going to do it for you. You won't hear the depth of the synthesizers and melowtron otherwise to take you out of your body soul traveling.
