Herd Immunity

Herd immunity means even if you don't get a shot because you are exposed to those who did get shots (vaccinations) you become immune too.

I benefitted from this because my parents didn't believe in vaccinations when I grew up. Also, because I mostly grew up after age 4 in California and I think my first years in Washington were the same thing where you could opt out of all vaccinations for religious reasons which my parents did always. So, the first shot I ever had was at age 15 which was a tetanus shot for being bit by a dog in the hand which was required by law once the dog was found not to be carrying rabies then here in California.

Was this a good thing? For me it was except for getting chicken pox and whooping cough. I almost died of whooping cough as well as my son. However, my two daughters I got a shot for whooping cough so they wouldn't get it.

However now I need to get a shingles shot because it has been proven effective because I had chicken pox as a child.

So, I guess the point I'm making here is you can be reasonably healthy, If you don't die from whooping cough, from cradle possibly to the grave just from herd immunity without any shots at all.

This type of thing is a minority probably under 3% of the entire population of the U.S. but in the rest of the world this is much more common. Also, people lived for hundreds of thousands of years without any vaccinations either. Also, another thought is: "How have vaccinations mutated the genetics of the human race?" And is this a good thing long term?
