Back in Shasta

Drove down from Portland in my truck today. It's a long drive for me these days since my operation in the spring.

The smoke was cleared away enough so that I could see the snow on Mt. Shasta from the end of the Mt. Ashland pass area near to coming into Yreka heading south. By the time I got to Weed Airport I could see the whole mountain clearly which was great. I also could see the Eddys too and Black Butte and Shastina. Only Black Butte (the top) could I see before last week when I was here.

I asked about the fires in Trinity Alps range and people told me the fires are still going on. The wind just changed and is now driving the smoke straight up into Oregon for now. So, it's mostly cleared up around Mt. Shasta for now.

Great to be back here again. Portland reminds me too much of Los Angeles and Downtown Seattle. I'm not a city boy anymore. I moved away from Los Angeles for the last time around 1976 when I moved to San Diego area then. So, mostly I have lived more in the country where it is very beautiful mostly since about 1976 out in the country in San Diego County before it built up like now and in Northern California on the coast and In Mt. Shasta and in Hawaii.

Good to be back here again but would have liked to spend more time with older daughter. Maybe in the fall when she goes back to college. We didn't get up to Mt. Hood where I love to go and ski this time but maybe next time. I love Timberline Lodge and skiing there year around and Trillium lake all times of the year, even when Trillium is covered all across with ice.
