Since Russia hasn't been fighting ISIS we have been wondering who is?
It turns out (because of a top General being killed by ISIS this week) is that IRan has it's army there in Syria. They are the major killers of ISIS right now. So, a way to look at this might be:
Russia is killing all opposition to Assad EXCEPT ISIS
Iran is losing many men including Generals to ISIS
So, who is fighting the hardest against ISIS?
The Iranian Army in Syria.
The Iranians are trying to keep this information from the Iranian public but when generals die
this is kind of hard to do. However, CNN has reported there are many many death notices of Iranian soldiers reaching their families at this time.
ISIS avowed existence is to extinct all Shiites if you understand their philosophy. However, in a secondary sense they want to kill all religions that aren't Sunni Muslims including Christians after they eliminate all Shiites.
Iran's government is Shiite so this is why Iran is killing ISIS at a very high cost of the loss of Shiite Iranian and Iraqi soldiers both in Syria and Iraq.
However, this has mainly been kept out of the news by Iran and kept very secretive from their people and the world.
