The real problem with these ongoing knife attacks by Arabs (mostly Sunnis) are that this is destroying any civility between Arabs and Sunnis at least in Israel. So, many paranoid reports of people are turning up as false leads after people who are Arabic are stopped and no knives or weapons are found. 

However, this over time, if it continues like young suicide bombers only this time with knives waiting to stab and die, makes this problem worse and worse for both Arabs and Israelis, especially because of propaganda in Arab news and social media. Also, Arabs would likely say that it is dishonorable to shoot someone who only has a knife according to their cultures also. However, since Israeli Jewish people are only about 6 to 10 million in Israel, they have no choice but to return knifings with shooting those people and burning down the homes of their families or destroying those homes with bulldozers.

However, if this continues it will erode all good wild between Israelis and Arabs that still exists and make it even easier for ISIS types of groups to gain converts to attack Israel in a multiplicity of ways. So, I see this group of knifing attacks as a softening up of a target psychologically for more serious attacks with bombs and weapons by groups like ISIS in the future. So, this is problematic to long term Israeli survival ongoing into the future. I'm not sure how Israelis can turn this to their advantage and be able to stay long term now in Israel. 

Because there is only so much that Israel can do to maintain their country and keeping their people alive without alienating the rest of the world in the process. So, this war is mostly political and psychological rather than actual at present. This is psychological warfare conducted by young men with knives who are willing to die to drive the Israelis permanently eventually from Israel.

Understanding this, maybe Israelis can figure out a useful way to deal with this situation.
