The Arrogance of the Western World

The problem is mostly cultural biases and Christian secular biases. We often think we can make right what is happening in other cultures. However, the dynamics are always different than Europe and the U.S. And even the U.S. is very different culturally in the end from Europe. It had to be so people could survive here.

So, the arrogance of the western world is to think we know better than locals in how to solve Middle Eastern problems, Viet Nam Problems etc. The only time this worked out well is for South Korea, (even though North Korea is a horrific disaster of epic proportions ongoing).

In China it was a disaster that was salvaged by Mao Tse Tung. Even though we didn't agree with his politics or solutions at all in the western world, he and his compatriots found a way forward when no one else but Chiang Kai Shek could. And Chiang founded Taiwan when defeated by Mao then.

So, almost everywhere the European or U.S. influence goes now there is a disaster because even though some of the people want exactly what they U.S. and Europe have now, they are not willing to take the hundreds of years it takes to create a useful democracy. One of the few exceptions to this has been India which through Gandhi made the giant leap to democracy successfully. Another exception to this is Turkey which also made a successful leap to democracy.

But, generally speaking the western world is going to fail going into other cultures and trying to (Fix them). It doesn't matter if it is Iraq or Libya or Syria or wherever it isn't going to work because those places are NOT the U.S. or Europe and each culture is going to function differently even if some of the people want exactly what we want here in Europe and the U.S.

It can't work. I wonder why we keep trying to change the world because the world is not the U.S. and Europe. It is whatever it has already been for thousands of years without us.
