U.S. gives rebels tons of ammo

The U.S. is ramping up efforts to support Syrian rebels fighting Bashar al-Assad's regime. This week, U.S. military cargo planes gave 50 tons of ammunition to rebel groups in northern Syria, using an air drop of 112 pallets.
C-17s, accompanied by fighter escort aircraft, dropped small arms ammunition and other items like hand grenades in Hasakah province in northern Syria to a coalition of rebels groups vetted by the U.S., known as the Syrian Arab Coalition.
All pallets successfully were recovered by friendly forces, a U.S. official said.

Syria civil war: US, Russia get more involved -- from opposing sides

What I find interesting about all this is finally the U.S. is giving weapons to Kurdish fighters so they can deal with ISIS more. So, likely the hope is that Russian and American and NATO and Coalition jets will drive at ISIS from the south and Kurdish fighters will be a wall against ISIS from the North to keep ISIS out of Iran. So, I won't be surprised if there eventually is a sweep that takes out ISIS completely over time from Syria all the way to Iran. However, this likely is going to take a long time to get to this, like a month or a year or more.
