Householder Yogi

Around 24 or 25 I realized by reading Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda that one of his teachers or his teachers teachers was a Householder yogi and he worked for the railroad in India: Lahiri Mahasaya.

When I realized that there was such a thing as masters who were married with children and who provided for them I thought this was a good idea for me.

I was right.

When you are going through life your yoga allows you to stay balanced and disciplined enough to become enlightened.

So, in choosing to become a householder yogi this is a good yoga for those suited to it.

After I had a son soon after I married I started to learn more about this.

Here are some of the things I learned during my life:

1. don't work for other people the rest of your life.
2. Start your own business(es) unless you want to live as a slave to others.
3. Some people who are not householder yogis though might make their career
their yoga and working for a specific company or trade their yoga and goal.
4. Don't go into debt educating yourself. This is how to accomplish this:
5. go to community colleges and transfer up as a Junior to a 4 year institution.
6. Try to work enough to pay your way through at every point.
7. don't try to not work at all until you get your degree.
8. don't get a mortgage on a house.
9. Try never to buy a house or a car on time.
10. Instead if you are capable buy land in the country and build your own house.
This might save you an incredible amount of money like it did me from 1980 to 1985.
11. With this extra money start another business.
12. Encourage your children to do the same unless they have an endowment from relatives to
     go to school for free.
 13. My oldest son I told him that if he actually got his degree I would pay off his student loans.
14. This gave him an incentive to finish his degree.
15. I followed through by paying off his student loans.
16. We are in the process of doing  the same with my older daughter.
17. My youngest daughter has an endowment started by her Grandfather when she was born.
18. This way they can all start their lives not in debt and we encourage our children to never go into
       debt.
19. Everything my wife and I own is paid for.
20. Around age 46 I prayed to God to make me a custodian of Wealth. Though this happened because I have that kind of relationship with God I had a whole lot to learn.
21. Like what is Wealth?
21. I thought wealth was managing money.
22. Nope.
23. Wealth is people and land and earth and sea and sky.
24. Money is what comes naturally to people in God's Good Graces in his own perfect timing.

If you or your children are Householder yogis all these ideas might help you too.

By God's Grace
