Nature Schools across the U.S.

I was looking for an overarching article at Wikipedia on Nature schools. I couldn't find what I was looking for. They seem to be for children 2 to 6 years old as a preschool. They take children outside to nature spots and help them to learn about animals birds, sometimes growing food like lettuce or carrots or broccoli or other vegetables. They might dig for worms out in nature or mushrooms or whatever teachers come up with for them to explore within 1/2 hour to an hour of where they live. This is the best way to describe this method. We used this method too starting with our children from around 1980. We put them all ages 5, 6 and 8 years of age on independent study  through Oak Meadow School and moved to our land on 2 1/2 acres of land off the grid 10 miles from the nearest small town at 4000 feet elevation in the forest. We home schooled them for 5 years like this while often traveling places to increase their exposure to beautiful interesting places and meeting all kinds of interesting people young and old as well. This caused the children to have a life long love of nature and to all be self starters in life and in business and in College. All three of them have one or more degrees at this point and have succeeded in life partly as a part of learning this love of nature and understanding of nature.

Cedarsong Nature School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cedarsong Nature School is an early education nature immersion program based on the German forest kindergarten model. The students are children ages 2–6 and the curriculum is based on interaction with the environment and establishing a connection to the natural world through play. Founded in 2008 by naturalists and childhood educators Erin K. Kenny and Robin Rogers, Cedarsong was the first school in the United States to open a forest kindergarten, and as of February 2015 was the only school in the United States offering Forest Kindergarten Teacher Training and Certification.[1] The school is located on a five acre campus on Vashon Island, Washington and serves the Greater Seattle area.
