Since the court battle could put Apple now and all smartphone makers later out of business:

You likely are going to see the fight of your lives over this as silicon Valley companies involved in any way with smartphones fight to keep the good will of EVERYONE ON EARTH WITH A SMARTPHONE.

Because if they don't all Smarphone makers name will be "SHIT!" to all smartphone users worldwide who actually understand what is going on here.

The fact that someone in government at a local or federal level made a mistake shouldn't make Apple responsible for that mistake and indirectly all smartphone makers and app makers worldwide and smartphone software makers worldwide too.

Could this court battle end the use of smartphones on earth including Androids?

Unfortunately through legal precedent the answer might be: Yes

for a variety of reasons.

However,  if people don't stop buying Apple products and Apple designs a whole new phone that has new technology and new software that no government can get into and people don't call Apple a pariah for giving the whole world a back door access to their phones, and everyone throws away their Iphones they now own:

Apple might economically survive this and stay in business.

Otherwise, they won't along with anyone who makes anything for Iphones worldwide including apps and other software.

However, if people who are ignorant do what Trump asks by boycotting Apple then this might be just the beginning of the end for ALL SMARTPHONES on earth because of this crazy incident.

Isn't life Crazy when people don't have enough information?

This is just so crazy it is going to be interesting to watch and see because the whole thing is just so hard to believe. Isn't it?

Think about this:

Apple might go out of business because of a software mistake someone in local government made which caused the Federal Government to take Apple to court to fix something they didn't even do. And then this possibly is going to eventually end ALL Smartphones even androids eventually through legal precedent within 10 years or so.

For example, Anyone who uses their Iphone for credit card purchases through their business anywhere will definitely have to throw away their phone (no questions asked) because they will be cleaned out of their bank accounts by crooks if Apple helps the government for example
