I didn't really know what a Shaman was until I was taking a course in Cultural Anthropology in San Diego and I read the definition from my textbook. It said something like:
A Shaman is a person who psychologically dies but their body doesn't so they live both in the worlds of the living but also the dead. They have been useful members of tribes always because if they survive this "living in the world of the living and living in the world of the dead" they are able often to help others survive their lives and often they become healers, doctors, nurses, and other health practitioners around the world down to today.
When I read this I was able to define what had happened to me in my life. Because eventually I had to cope with this "Living in the land of the living and the dead at the same time".
Living just in the land of the living is difficult enough but trying to deal with all your friends and relatives after they all pass on can be very difficult at times.
So, this is one reason why I kind of wanted to be dead from ages 21 to around 24 or 25 until I got used to "living in the land of the dead too". So, I would think many would kill themselves before they learned to cope with this sort of thing.
However, if you can survive it there are many advantages to it.
1. You can help your friends and relatives go to a better place after they pass on once you learn how to help do this.
2. It is easier to gather thousands of angels around you who help you do your good works and to keep you and your family safe once you get used to this way of being.
Here are some famous shamans that I can tell by how they talk and their teachings.
1. Jesus
2. Buddha
3. Saint Francis of Asisi
I used these three because at least in the western world these would be the easiest for people to relate to.
So, often it is a near death experience that turns one into a shaman because they should have died (logically speaking) but they didn't by some kind of miracle.
So, people who survive near death experiences by miracles often become natural shamans.
However, it takes some time to get used to it.
It took me until I was 30 or more to see that it was a blessing and not just a curse. Because once you figure it all out you can save people's lives whenever God allows you to sometimes. So, this is wonderful when God allows you to do this in his name. Or better said, "You are the vehicle God chooses to save lives through."
