Yes. But this isn't always a good thing.
For example, let's say in your last lifetime your mother was in prison and so you were born in prison and you only lived to be 5 years old. Your mother was raped all the time by the jailers and you had to witness this many times before you died. Would you really want to remember this?
Past lifetimes are really really tricky to deal with. But, I was lucky because my parents understood this and gave me prayers to prevent harm from remembering past lives while I was growing up. So, though I remember many many past lives I am very specific about what I want to remember. For example, I'm not interested in remembering the exact moment of an execution or dismemberment or death on a battlefield. I don't want to remember that experience. What i do like to remember are things that will help me in this present lifetime like: "when I meet people from that lifetime, are they good or bad in this lifetime?" So, past lifetimes are useful to know about to stay alive in this lifetime too.
So, past lifetimes are sort of like in this lifetime walking along a freeway today. If you know the rules you might survive this if you stay off the main lanes of traffic and walk in the emergency lanes. Otherwise, you are road kill psychologically or physically. This is important to understand. Unless you understand fully the rules of the road so to speak it's not only dangerous it could end your present life too to dabble in past lives. So, be careful so you can learn about people from past lifetimes in this life(as to whether they will help you or kill you and like that. But just remember it's a minefield and there is a really good reason why we forget past lifetimes too.
For example, let's say you meet someone in this lifetime that killed you in your last lifetime. Does that mean you will kill them or they will kill you again? Not necessarily. For example, that person might have regretted killing you and now is a different sex than then and you two might be lovers. So, what does this all mean? It could mean literally anything and that is the problem. If you don't have enough information sometimes it's worse than having no information at all.
Reincarnation is a lot like marriage, it can often be a love hate relationship and it can be very intense both ways.
So, having compassion for yourselves and all others is important in the overall scheme of things for the best outcomes ongoing.
