My parents were very grounded people

For example, My father owned his own Electrical Contracting Business in Los Angeles and I worked summers with him when I was 12 to 17 learning to be an elecrician's helper. Byt he time I was 17 I could take any electrical plan drawn up and completely wire a house from the ground up with just the right parts  by the plan all by myself except for pulling wire you need two people when pulling wire through an EMT conduit pipe. But you have to be careful not to get your fingers caught while feeding the wires or you could lose fingers especially if the wire puller is enthusiastic at his job on the other end.

My mother was raised fairly poor during the Great Depression and told me her front door had leather hinges and their heater was a converted oil drum that they burned wood and coal inside of growing up in Seattle. Despite this , she did graduate high school and worked to support her mother for 10 years from age 18 to 28 when she married my father at age 27 and had me at age 29.
My father was a very out of doors person and my mother loved how my father loved to visit the out of doors and hike and swim in mountain lakes. I also love this too by the way. So, I grew up camping a lot all over California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. In Idaho my grandfather had a mining claim that he lived on 6 months a year and did mining after he retired as an electrical contractor in Seattle. He taught his three older sons the electrical trade but wouldn't send them to college but instead sent his two daughters to college instead during the Great Depression.

Neither of my parents drank or smoked because they were religious. In addition they were both vegetarians because of their religion as well. They were lacto ovo vegetarians which was very unusual for the 1950s, 1940s or 1930s. However, my father was valedictorian of his high school class even though his father wouldn't let him go to college then in 1934. My father became a lacto ovo vegetarian at age 18 because he studied how meat was poisoned by chemicals and preservatives and antibiotics and the like. He became a follower of Paul Bragg who Jack LaLane also studied with. Jack LalLane got people to jog and join exercise gyms for health by the way here in the U.S.
