This is one of the more interesting things about earthquakes. any mountain you see (unless it is formed entirely by erosion from rain or glaciers or winds are caused by earthquakes. For example, the Himalayan Mountains the highest in the world are caused by two tectonic plates cramming up against each other. The plates cannot go down so they go up where the least resistance is to almost 30,000 feet on Mt. Everest. So, over time likely Mt. Everest will be even taller than it is now and the same thing wherever plates and still pushing hard against each other in many mountain ranges around the world.
For example, something like the Grand Canyon in Arizona is caused entirely by rain and winds which is the opposite of what causes most mountains. There are also canyons like this under the ocean like the 5000 foot deep Canyon in the ocean right off of Monterey, California. The Monterey Bay Aquarium often features exhibits regarding this feature too and sometimes brings up 5000 feet deep unusual creatures as temporary features of their exhibits as well.
