What About Grace?

I was talking with a friend recently and they were saying that their father lost his wife about a year ago and because he is a staunch Christian believes he cannot even kiss a woman now unless he is married to her. However, if he did either of these things he would lose her social security benefits which he might not be able to survive without. So, I was talking with this person saying, 'What about Grace?" of when you are doing good works everything changes in your life. Hard and fast rules like this often are "cutting off your nose to spite your face" and likely in his case will mean he will die before his time. Does he have the right to these feelings and rules? OF course!

But, why punish yourself in this way? Life is hard enough without doing this to yourself.

This is my thought so I said to these persons: "Why don't you ask your father about Grace?"

And what he thinks about that? or progressive revelation?

But, as they left I said, "You might just lose him before his time otherwise."

When my wife's stepfather lost my wife's mother he was despondent and in his 80s. We encouraged him to date other women and because of our encouragement he did. However, the difference was he was an atheist and so this wasn't a hard sell once he had our permission to do this. Then he lived with a lovely woman who had lost her husband who was a famous test pilot until she passed away a few years ago. He lived then until he was 98 this year! When he got together with her she was in her late 60s and he was in his 80s. They were very happy together for at least 15 years time until she passed away. And he was flying his plane a V tail Beechcraft Bonanza with her well into his 80s and she was a pilot too.
