Chaos! unbelievable changes. This is the similarity to 1968.
I was 20 in 1968 so for me those days were very personal in my life experience. It was chaos. It hadn't been this chaotic in the U.S. really since Wrold war II and the Great Depression. Even though it had been completely nuts since Bay of Pigs, The Cuban missile Crisis, then one year later JFK was assassinated, then his brother and Martin Luther King. After that, no one believed the government anymore simply because J. Edgar Hoover of the FBI hated all these people enough to do away with them. At that time, J. Edgar Hoover of the FBI could black mail anyone including presidents.
The similarity now is what I might call "A technological Singularity beginning" on top of Global Climate change which is causing exponential cost of living increases worldwide especially in regard to food.
Why?
Because when droughts and weather changes like floods, tornadoes and hurricanes happen alongside of fires and mudslides with greater and greater frequency. And as winds increase in all these storms exponentially from increasing heat stored down to about 50 feet deep in the oceans, you can no longer predict with any certainty how much food can be grown anywhere for sure.
And because of this food futures become more and more expensive and make poor people worldwide not be able to buy this more expensive food (Unless it is donated to them by AID agencies) worldwide.
Let me explain about cost of living problems:
In 1964 I had a job making $3 an hour after school.
20 hours a week.
Minimum wage was 1 dollar an hour up to maybe $1.17 cents an hour. So, basically I made 3 times the minium wage at age 16 driving camera equipment all over Los Angeles County when I was just 16. I also could afford to have bought an 800 dollar 1956 ford stationawagon all by myself since I had been working for my DAd as an electrician's helper making a minimum of $2.50 and hour since I was 12 years old summers. Since I looked 15 or older since I was 13 because I was already over 5 feet 10 to 6 feet then people thought I was just a young working adult then too.
Gas was 17 cents a gallon or less so I could on weekends anytime I wasn't working or studying afford to drive 200 to 400 miles a weekend to play just on money I was making by myself (even without my parents help).
Now think about now. How many 16 year old kids or 15 year old kids can even get a job if they begged someone for one?
The cost of living has gone up exponentially to the point where if most adults without a college education aren't working 3 jobs they cannot survive as adults.
So, the incredible cost of living increases since 1964 are literally killing people not only in the U.S. but also around the world.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
