We have been mostly above 40s and 50s at night on the SF Bay area coast towns which is warmer than normal for this time of year. Also, Daytime temperatures might be 65 to 75 or more which is also unusual for January. But, finally a cold northern storm is coming which is supposed to drop snow levels in the Sierras because all the rain has been melting snow at lower altitudes all winter so far. So, we only have 25% of normal snow pack which is going to be very bad form about July to October when we will need the snow pack to slowly melt to make things work right during those months in California.
So, this year might be a difficult water year for many places in California those months in particular unless we can get more snow sticking in the Sierras without rain melting it too soon.
However, tonight it says lows are going to be 34 degrees to 45 degrees throughout this area and snow levels could drop as low as 2000 to 3000 feet in altitude which should be good for skiing. Hopefully, but not that good for driving if you are heading for the mountains.
