If a Carrington event happened today

Basically, from what I now know after studying technology since I was about 5 years old now in 1953 is that the passenger planes on the side of the earth facing the sun would fall out of the sky because of a loss of both engines and control surfaces either through the pilot or autopilot. All electrical systems on planes on the side of the planet facing the sun would end. So, control surfaces would fail and everything electrical on the plane never to be restarted by any means. This is presently what would happen given the way passenger planes are presently designed. So, it is inevitable if planes are continued to be designed this way  that everyone on these planes would die in a Carrington Event type of situation like this. The only people that might survive would be wearing parachutes somehow. For example, in private jets people might have parachutes to jump out with and survive.

All electrical systems in all ships at sea would permanently stop  working if they were on the side of the planet facing the Carrington type of event. All spark plugs and electrical systems running any engines of any kinds on that side of the earth would permanently cease to work. (The parts might be completely replaced but those parts in those devices would never work ever again).

All magnetic media that was above 10 feet underground would permanently stop working including all Cell phones and Smartphones, all computers, Ipads and devices that use magnetic media (if they were above 10 feet underground.

So, the effect would be basically the same as a nuclear blast EMP on 1/2 of the planet hit with the solar blast.

All electrical systems in all cars and trucks and trains would permanently cease to function also. So, if you had self driving vehicles at that time people likely would die if they didn't have manual control of their electrical systems at the time.

All electrical systems in all buildings (above 10 feet underground) would permanently cease to function.

The words "Permanently cease to function" is important here because nothing electrical would ever work again, (Until new parts manufactured on an area of the planet where the solar blast had not hit or that were manufactured after this event on the same side of the planet where the solar event

Some monetary damage estimates are trillions of dollars worldwide if and when this event occurs. Because it is NOT an IF it is ONLY a WHEN. The loss of life would inevitably be in the millions initially but long term it could be billions because of starvation from no vehicles on air, land or sea working anymore on that side of the planet. So, food could be moved by horseback but no other technology is going to work anymore.
