I suppose you might be safe at Horse Camp or maybe if there is enough snow to dig a snow cave to weather the winds out you might be okay. But, walking around in 95 mph winds is extremely dangerous, especially because if you are climbing up from Horse Camp Sierra Club Emergency Lodge in that route there are many rocks and really steep angles where they could blow loose. The problem on ordinary days when there isn't heavy snow cover on the mountain is that people (climbers above you) sometimes knock loose a pebble but the problem is that little pebble might knock loose a bigger rock the size of your thumb and then that rock might knock loose a rock the size of your fist and then it comes down at 60 mph or more down the mountain and if you don't see it then if it hits your head or face then you might just be dead or maimed at that point. And this is 100 times worse if you are hiking or climbing at night because you won't see the rocks coming at you possibly at all.
Many people tend to set up tents and bury them in snow if there is enough there at Lake Helen which usually isn't a lake at all but a place where water could gather under some circumstances but it is usually too cold for it to do that there (at least at night) most of the year where it usually goes to freezing or below most nights of the year there. It is at around 10,000 feet and directly up above Horse Camp Sierra club emergency lodge on that route up the mountain.
The reason people bury tents in the snow if there is snow is that it is very windy and cold there usually at night so if you can keep the wind out of your tent you can stay a lot warmer during the nights there.
But, tonight because of the 95 mph winds up on the mountain might be the single most dangerous night so far this year on the mountain after 10 pm when these winds hit until around 7 pm Tuesday night.
