The problem is that humans caused the pandemic themselves either directly or indirectly. As human world populations grow and more species therefore go extinct it will naturally create more and more and worse pandemics that will eventually extinct the human race.
And even developing a vaccine is sort of like putting a bandaid on a wound that will soon get re-infected.
In other words unless human overpopulation is addressed more species will die which naturally will create far worse pandemics than this one. This one "Theoretically only kills about 2.5% of the infected in 1st world countries (even though where there aren't ICU beds it can also kill 5%, 10% or more of a percentage of all those infected worldwide who get coronavirus.
So, this isn't the pandemic likely that is going to extinct the whole human race, that likely will come later this century if we don't find a way to reduce world populations between now and then and stop extincting wild species of plants and animals and birds and fish through overpopulation worldwide.
