Doomsday Glacier (Thwaites Glacier in Antarctica)

The reason it is called the "Doomsday Glacier" is because if it collapses into the ocean it displaces enough water (along with all the other glaciers that are held back by it now) to raise the sea levels all over earth by about 10 feet.

If or when the Doomsday Glacier first breaks off it all by itself will raise sea levels by 2 feet worldwide all by itself likely within 5 years or more just from the displacement of the ocean when the ice goes into it from the shelf. It doesn't have to melt. In fact, ice expands when it first freezes from water so as it melts it might reduce the displacement a little over time. But, not by much.

So, just breaking off and floating on water is going to raise the sea levels worldwide by 2 feet when the shelf completely breaks off into the ocean. And then the other glaciers held back by the Thwaites glacier will raise the worldwide sea level by another 8 feet over time when they also break off into the ocean.

All the oceans of the Earth are connected if you observe on a globe or map. Therefore the 2 feet raise in sea levels would immediately be felt worldwide on ALL coasts whenever the Thwaites Glacier collapses into the ocean. Like I said before the glacier doesn't have to melt to raise the sea levels because it will displace the water like when you put a log in a bath tub or a log in a river or lake.
