Nevada I found out yesterday as I drove with my wife from Lake Tahoe is the greenest it has been in at least 20 years right now. Usually driving across Nevada it is sort of like desert and that's all but right now here in early June it is a whole different experience. For example, there is a locust outbreak because of all the water and greenery. We got off Interstate 80 at to get gas and food in Carlin, Nevada only to find everyone driving over thousands of Locusts who seemed to have set up a mating ritual on the overpass into Carlin from Interstate 80. I took a picture of one of these creatures and even found one had hung onto our car from there all the way into Idaho which seems kind of unbelievable to me.
Here are some pictures from a 2019 locust infestation. Around here they are called "Mormon Crickets" I guess. The thousands and thousands we saw were mostly on the ground wandering around or squished by cars. Amazing Sight to see something this Biblical while traveling! Be careful if you are riding a motorcycle though because you might slide on them and lay down your bike. So, be careful riders coming into Carlin, Nevada right now.
