We have been having a new roof put on because we needed to do this to put solar arrays on our Santa Barbara house. So, as I write this I hear the banging of them putting the new roofing on. we noticed that it was harder to heat up the house while the final roofing shingles were put on also the last few days. Since this is an older house built in the 1950s up on top of the hills next to santa Barbara it doesn't have thermopane windows that are double windows to keep warmer yet. So, that is likely another thing we will do to make the house more heat efficient both in the winters and the summers as well.
It's much easier to keep our home near San Francisco on the coast warm because it had all thermopane double paned windows already installed when we got it around 1999 we have noticed especially with all the changes in weather both hotter and colder depending upon the year from global climate changes.
My daughter was remarking recently that everyone thinks the world will just keep getting hotter but if you listen to doctorates in Weather Science at a certain point it switches from hot to ice age very quickly. I think the governments of earth don't want you to know that though because people might survive heat spells but what happens if most of earth is covered with ice and snow 20 to 30 feet deep?
Unless people have tunnels or helicopters to get around in that they won't.
Though I suppose dog sleds or snowmobiles might work too like people in Alaska often use to hunt and get places. Or they fly in smaller planes or helicopters too.
