Interesting developments in honor of the death of Jimmie Carter:

 I just learned today that U.S. flags are to be run up at half staff for 30 days in honor of Jimmie Carter's passing. However, Governor Abbot in Texas says Texas will not honor this.

Since this is an edict of Biden in honor of Carter this likely will remain in place the half staff 30 days order in most U.S. states through Trump's inauguration.

For example, this has already happened before when Truman died just before Nixon's first inauguration so there is precedent for flags at half staff during a President's inauguration when a previous president has died recently.
