When I was young and first heard this statement it made no sense at all to me.
However, as I grew up I began to understand.
The best way I can say it is we do die daily if we die to God each night
Then we wake up a new person each morning.
It's like being a brand new born Baby each morning in the innocense of God
However, it's true you have to give up everything each night when you go to sleep
in order to wake up reborn each morning.
I often accomplish this by saying "God is Here" over and over again while experiencing this.
If I do this right I wake up reborn each morning
However, it is also true that "God IS Everywhere and Every when too" this is a true statement as well.
However, if God is everywhere and every when then God is wherever you or I are too in each and every moment of our lives.
So, Hope literally comes from Dying Daily to God and being reborn in Hope every morning.
It is definitely one of the many keys to longevity.
