Storing non-perishables in waterproof 50 gallon drums buried in the earth

This was a thing in the early 1980s because of the 10% unemployment then. Many younger people buried non-perishable foods underground so no one would steal their food so that they could have food no matter what happened for their families. So, this was a real thing then when many people like myself thought the U.S. was going to go bankrupt from the waste of Money in Viet Nam. However, the way out of this mess was countries we had helped after world war II loaned us money like Europe and Japan which kept the U.S. from going bankrupt then with another Great Depression at that time.

I'm concerned Trump is treating our friend nations so badly that I'm not sure they will help us in the future though. Just look at Canada alone boycotting our foods and any travel here because they don't want to be our 51st State.

If I was Canadian I wouldn't want anything to do with the U.S. either after what Trump has said. But, for younger people living in Canada it is still possible to get rich if you are poor because of Social programs there.

However, mostly this isn't true except maybe for the entertainment industry here in the U.S. anymore.

But, burying non-perishables in 50 gallon drums like dried pasta and rice and bags of beans and anything else that isn't perishable for a year or more or canned goods is starting to seem like a good idea with Trump and Musk Destroying so many people's lives worldwide by what they are doing now to our government.

Trump and Musk are just so absurd and ridiculous and dangerous to everyone on earth you really don't know what harm they will do to any country including our own next.
