The Nearness of Death

I think in some ways realizing we all could die any moment of our lives makes us better people. Why?

Because when you know that your death could come any moment it usually makes you a better person and less self centered. You tend to care about the people you love more and think about their needs because you know you might be gone at any moment.

For example, one of the reasons that I have chosen to stay alive and to refuse to die during my heart virus in 1998 and 1999 is because then I had a 2 1/2 year old daughter and a 10 year old daughter. Both of them are late 20s or in their 30s now.

However, because my father passed away when I was only 37 years old and it traumatized me a lot at the time for around 13 years until I almost died myself, I try to stay alive so my children aren't as traumatized by my death (if or when it comes) as I was when my larger than life father who was valedictorian of his Senior class in High School passed away at age 69.

It's true that since I almost died myself I changed a lot to where I see life quite differently after almost dying for about 9 months.

Though I recovered and didn't die this experience changed me a lot in that I see every moment as:

The Grace of God

In other words I see every moment of my life after May of 1999 as a Miracle that I am gifted with by God for God's purposes.

In June of 1999 I began my first blog to honor God and how God saved my life through a series of Miracles.

However, the miracles have continued unbroken for 26 years so far and I am Grateful for God's Grace every moment of every day.

May the Grace of God and his Angels be Ever with You both in this world and the next
