One of my best friends who passed away at age 62 in 2006 because he wouldn't have an open heart operation also had a master's degree in Psychology and was a teacher.
He said to me one day: "Fred. You need to take this next thing I'm going to say to heart to survive your present divorce. It is: 'There are no problems only opportunities."
I realized how powerful this was in rescuing my life from the problems I was dealing with then.
If you think of your life as only problems you are finished.
However, if you look at life as "Only Opportunities" you have a potential future.
If you are going through a divorce (You can get another girlfriend or even remarry. I did both and then had another daughter with my new wife.
Doing this literally saved my life. Literally.
I was not doing well because I was 46 years old and had basically been married for 20 years at that point and raising kids (1 or more from 1974 until 2014 actually.)
So, looking at life as not a problem but as an opportunity literally saved my life.
When you choose to look at life as an opportunity or maybe thousands of opportunities instead of thinking of everything as a problem your life changes a lot.
And then you are free of the craziness of thinking everything is a problem when it doesn't have to be.
