First of all I wear hearing aids which cost around 8000 dollars that specifically address tinnitus which is usually the eeeeee high pitch sounds your ear makes as your hearing decreases. The brain isn't used to losing hearing so it makes a high pitched screaming or squeeking sound all the time. So, when you wear your hearing aids the brain gets enough sounds and the screaming sound (high pitched) isn't as bad.
However, sometimes my right hearing aid can scream or squeek in various ways. And since we don't have the spotted towhee making this sound in the San Francisco Area but do in Santa Barbara and further south I often am wondering if I'm listening to my hearing aid squeal or whether I'm listening to a spotted towhee.
So, I looked the sounds a spotted towhee makes and one of them is sort of like a cricket sound which also can sound a little like feedback (sound feedback) on one or both of your hearing aids.
You can hear what I'm talking about among the sounds below.
