an expert was asked by a reporter if all these kinds of problems can be stopped. His answer was "No. But, driverless vehicles are 90 percent safer than people driving (which likely is true) if you average all drivers on the road and their driving experiences.
In other words would you rather a Waymo drive your 15 to 17 year old daughter some place or one of her peers. No contest. Waymo is much much safer than teenage drivers at least up to 18 years of age or more.
