Recently a friend spent a couple of weeks in a Zen Abbey in retreat after traveling south to Australia and new Zealand. I think she was maybe overwhelmed by all her experiences there and with Trump's craziness on earth too.
A place like Mt. Shasta can be a retreat from the insanities of things like Trump who is ruining the world for almost everyone and possibly bringing World war III with no oil to us all worldwide too.
However, coming to Mt. Shasta to heal from my robotic Hernia Surgery has been a good decision in every way and very much like a retreat from the problems of the world. It's true I still blog a lot about the problems in the world but I find here that we are so far from big cities that it is less worrying.
Like Trump causing a nuclear war with China or Russia over Iran (though possible) is less worrisome while I'm here with NO military bases nearby or oil drilling or refineries nearby for other countries to bomb or blow up with Drones like Iran.
So, there is a peace here I don't find on the Coast in the SF Bay area anymore because there are just so many Naval bases and military bases and oil refineries and oil storage depots vulnerable to Iranian Type Shahed Drones from 1000 miles at sea now that I feel much safer here at least at this point.
I suppose people might worry about Mt. Shasta blowing up in a volcanic eruption like mt. St. Helens and killing everyone. However, I have been coming here or living here since 1953 when I was 5 years old with my father and mother and more than anything else it has been a place of retreat from the insanities of the world more than anything else.
I find peace here when I often cannot find it anywhere else!
