First of all, this book is one that fell on Shirley MacLaine's head in a bookstore and changed her life a lot.
For me, it was one of the books that changed my life a lot too. I read it while attending the "I AM" School in Santa Fe, New Mexico (when it was still there before it moved to another location). I read it in my private dorm room all to myself. I didn't have TV or Computers (because Home Computers didn't exist in 1965 or 1966. So, I had a radio and I read a lot when it wasn't snowing outside or even when it was.
This book really changed how I thought about everything because it reminded me enough of things that I eventually got interested in like Star Trek on TV that came out in I think Fall of 1966 after I turned 18 and had graduated from High School in Santa Fe, New Mexico at a private school there.
However, remember if you read it it was written basically two centuries back at this point in the late 1800s in how people thought then more than now. However, Frederick Spenser Oliver was I think about 18 years old when he wrote this book which is really amazing too to think about this now.
